I missed out on a number of the butterfly and moth-inspired scents.  So far, Iv’e liked the 1 or 2 I’ve tried previously.  Hopefully this doesn’t break the pattern

Scent Name: Goliath Birdwing

Manufacturer:  Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab –  Metamorphosis: The Butterflies (6/13/11-8/15/11)

Scent Description and Notes: White sage, lemongrass, lemon balm, dusty beige musk, and drops of anise.”

Oil Color: The oil is very nearly crystal clear.

Bottle Design and Artwork:  This is a standard vial / imp size (1/32 oz).  I received this from a forumite, so it features a self-created lable.  This one is a 1/2 sized label wrapped around the bottle.  There is no front or back, but the title of the scent is scrolled in near cursive letters in green font across the front of the label.  This is a tester in terms of amount of oil in the bottle.

  • In the Imp (ITI):  Hmm, this smells a bit like lemon-scented cleaning supplies on first sniff.  I think it might be the combination of lemongrass, lemon balm, and perhaps even the sage.  The is a slight dustiness from the sage as I sniff longer.   I get this image not of a butterfly but of a white lace ensconced attic room that has been freshly dusted with lemon-scented Pledge.
  • Wet: I get sage and lemon, but a thick lemon, which must be from the balm.  It still reminds be of certain clearing products, but it isn’t necessarily a bad association.
  • Dry: Lemony sage, but still very much cleaning supplies.  This is a no-go for me.
Other Impressions: It smells like hotel hand-soap to my husband.
