I admit, I studied the Ukiyo-e in the Edo world, and there is a soft spot in my heart for such woodblock prints of all natures.  That, coupled with the tea and lemongrass prompted me to buy an imp of it.  However, now that I’ve had more experience with BPAL and its notes, I worry about what the honey and ginger will do on my skin.

Scent Name:  Couple Engaged in Lovemaking

Manufacturer: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – Lupercalia 2011:  Novel Ideas for Secret Amusements IV (1/18/11-3/21/11)

Scent Description and Notes: “Honey, lemongrass, black tea, white ginger, and grains.” -BPAL

Oil Color: A sunny light goldenrod color.

Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a standard vial / imp size (1/32 oz). This is a decant from ralenth, who tries to match the bottle art to the art she provides on the imp.  On the back, she has the notes of the scent in large font.  On the side, she has her decanting name, while the front features the name of the collection and the name of the scent framing the image associated with the scent. The image is a shunga woodblock print of a couple doing just what the name suggests.

Scent:

  • ITI:  Wow, it’s a bit much on first sniff.  I get very strong honey, hops (grains), and ginger.  It reminds me of a mouse net for some reason.
  • Wet: Honey, wet grain, and pickled ginger. I still have this overarching urge to wash my wrist.
  • Dry: Honey and wet grain with spicy ginger powder in the background.  It’s better dry, but not enough to make me want to keep it.

Other Impressions: Ew! from Tony.  It’s like spice, citrus, and tea, not in a good way. He actively does not like this. According to Brad, it’s warm, dry, spicy, with ginger. Dried on my, he gives it an “okay,” but it’s not really me he says.
