When the Moths and Butterflies update went live, there were a few scents that I wanted to try to see if a bottle should be had. The coffee and orange seemed like an interesting combination of notes.
Scent Name: Ruddy Daggerwing
Manufacturer: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – Metamorphosis: 5/3-9/4/12
Scent Description and Notes: “Cacao, tobacco absolute, Chilean coffee bean, osage-orange, and ebony. ” -BPAL
Oil Color: A bright lemony yellow.
Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a standard vial / imp size (1/32 oz). This is a decant from Catseyes, who tries to match the bottle art to the art she provides on the imp. On the back, she has the notes of the scent the company name, and the date. The front features the name of the scent with an image matching the bottle art, which is the scent’s namesaked butterfly.
- ITI: Rich coca, black coffee, and ripe orange. Oh wow, this makes my mouth water.
- Wet: There is now a cleaner aspect to the orange, but the coca and coffee remain dominant. I can barely make out the headiness from the tobacco.
- Dry: As it dries, the tobacco comes out as dominant, but couched in coca. There are still tones of orange and coffee. It is a rather invigorating scent to me.
Other Impressions: Vanilla and tobacco to Tony’s nose.
