Scent Name: Opium Poppy
Manufacturer: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – Rappaccini’s Garden
Scent Description and Notes: “Opium teaches only one thing, which is that aside from physical suffering, there is nothing real. A bitter, soft, fragile flower.“ -BPAL
Oil Color: A honeycomb color.
Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a standard vial / imp size (1/32 oz). The label wrapped around the bottle features an Art-Deco inspired Phoenix with the name of the company at the bottle of the image. On the other side, the title of the scent written in large, clear black font outlined with red on the front.
- In the Imp (ITI): Clearly opium, but I get something that is a little reminiscent of Chanel No. 5.
- Wet: Heady opium and just a subtle influence from the poppy. It’s close to overwhelming at this point, but I do like the headiness of it.
- Dry: I get heady opium and light poppy, but I get something a little powdery once dried. It’s still a scent I would consider wearing on occasion.
Other Impressions: Tony says it IS Chanel No. 5. I would consider his nose as expert here as Chanel No. 5 is his mother’s signature scent, which she wears every day. This might be a cheaper dupe (providing your skin chemistry doesn’t change it entirely) for $10 rather than $50+.
