Considering I’ve worn this 3-4 times rather than reviewing something else or wearing something else, I figured it was time for a review.

Scent Name: Death Adder

Manufacturer:  Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab –  Carnaval Diabolique: Act III: The Snake Pit

Scent Description and Notes: “Snake Oil with vetiver, black coconut, vanilla, and opoponax. – BPAL

Oil Color: – A deep new penny copper, although darker and ruddier.

Bottle Design and Artwork:  This is a 5ml standard brown apothecary bottle.  The label extends just under halfway around the bottom.  The label is a spin-off of Snake Oil’s in that it has the same parchment colored background, black ombre scroll work framing bold, shadowed block font with collection information underneath.  The black font under the bottom ombre scroll/floret reads “The Snake Pit / Black Phoenix Alchemical Lab / Fiaza’s Friends / Carnaval Diabolique.”  The image is of a death adder superimposed over the company and collection information (middle bottle on bottom row).

Scent:

  • ITB:  Sugared vanilla, and black coconut are the clearest notes in the bottle.  I do get some Snake Oil, but it is a bit sweeter here than it is when applied to the skin.
  • Wet: I get vanilla, lightly toasted coconut (so good!), resinous and slightly ready opoponax, and a hint of sugar from the Snake Oil.  It’s absolutely gorgeous.
  • Dry: Super heady and amazingly sexy.  The opoonax mingles thickly with the vetiver and the black coconut, under which is faint vanilla and Indonesian oils.  I want to bathe in it.
Other Impressions: “Oh my gosh, this is so good.  Most perfumes has this flowery, feminine smell to it, but this does not.  It’s darker and more heady.”  -Lee and Lacey
