Scent Name: Frank Burns
Manufacturer: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – The Gentleman’s Directory, 11/5/12–12/31/12
Scent Description and Notes: “As you pass down Houston street, faro banks abound, till we reach an unpretending red brick building No. 25, kept by Frank Burns, known as the “Judge and Jury”. This is a great resort for the sportsmen both of this and the other country. Everything here is conducted in a respectable and orderly manner.
Bay rum, polished oak, exquisite pipe and cigar tobaccos, and a splash of bourbon.“ -BPAL
Oil Color: – I cannot tell the color of the oil by looking into the brown apothecary bottle.
Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a 5ml standard brown apothecary bottle. The label extends just under halfway around the bottom. The top and the bottom feature the name of the scent and the company name in thick white block font set against a black border. The name of the scent is in burgundy block font, of a larger size, outlined in black and set just above the company name along the bottom. The image is a pencil or ink drawing of several women enjoying the company of their male patrons.
- ITB: It smells like cough syrup-infused rum and polished wood. It’s a bit strange.
- Wet: Cherries, bourbon, rum, rich tobacco and just a hint of polished oak. It’s very much something I’d imagine a “gentleman” smelling like.
- Dry: It’s deliciously smoky – think and somewhat fruity – slashed with bourbon and good rum and just a touch of polish underneath. I like it and I want to smell my husband in it.
