Well, I remember thinking that I might want to get a bottle of BPAL’s Embalming Fluid, so I’m assuming I should like this one as well.

Scent Name: Herbert West

Manufacturer:  Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – A Picnic in Arkham

Scent Description and Notes: Of Herbert West, who was my friend in college and in after life, I can speak only with extreme terror. This terror is not due altogether to the sinister manner of his recent disappearance, but was engendered by the whole nature of his life-work, and first gained its acute form more than seventeen years ago, when we were in the third year of our course at the Miskatonic University Medical School in Arkham. While he was with me, the wonder and diabolism of his experiments fascinated me utterly, and I was his closest companion. Now that he is gone and the spell is broken, the actual fear is greater. Memories and possibilities are ever more hideous than realities.

Aftershave, embalming fluid, and splatterings from a panoply of reanimation reagents. – BPAL

Oil Color:  A slightly yellowish green oil.  Pretty, really.

Bottle Design and Artwork:  This is a standard vial / imp size (1/32 oz).  The label wrapped around the bottle features an Art-Deco inspired phoenix with the name of the company next to the phoenix. On the other side, the title of the scent written in large, clear black font outlined with red on the front.

  • ITI:  I get a gorgeous lemon verbena note, but like lemon verbena tea paired with something more masculine and slightly peppery.  Interesting so far.
  • Wet: I still get mostly Embalming fluid ( lemon, tea, aloe, musk), but the aftershave tones down the sweeter aspects by adding something spicier and a little more sharp.
  • Dry: After some time. it becomes a soft, slightly lemon-y, tea infused subtle scent.  I like it.
