Name: Lady of Shallot
Manufacturer: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – Ars Amatoria
Scent Description and Notes: “
Heard a carol, mournful, holy,
Chanted loudly, chanted lowly,
Till her blood was frozen slowly,
And her eyes were darkened wholly,
Turn’d to tower’d Camelot.
For ere she reach’d upon the tide
The first house by the water-side,
Singing in her song she died,
The Lady of Shalott.
The scent of calm waters just before a raging storm, limned with achingly-beautiful blooms, an icy scent, but somehow warm, and mirror-bright: bold gardenia, crystalline musk, muguet, water blossoms, clear, slightly tart aquatic notes and a crush of white ginger.“ – blackphoenixalchemylab.com
Oil Color: The color of fresh honey.
Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a standard vial / imp size (1/32 oz). The label wrapped around the bottle features an Art-Deco inspired phoenix with the name of the company next to the phoenix. On the other side, the title of the scent written in large, clear black font outlined with red on the front.
- ITI: Ok, so usually I see aquatics and I want to run screaming for the hills. This one surprised me quite a bit when I opened the cap. Instead of salty or just tangy, I get a delicate balance of gently drifting water blossom, light, airy musk, delicate muguet, gardenia and clear brook waters. Wow!
- Wet: Very similar, but a touch softer and a hint greener – still lovely and very wearable no matter the occasion or location.
- Dry: It still maintains much of the soft gentleness that made The Lady of Shallot so appealing in the first place – muguet, water blossom, gardenia, and a faint hint of spiciness from the ginger.
