This is my fourth time wearing the scent, but I’m finally have some time to review.  An imp was just not enough.

Scent Name: The Hierophant and the Empress

Manufacturer: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – Lilith 2014

Scent Description and Notes: Let the woman be girt with a sword before me: the many-throned, many-minded, many-wiled, daughter of Zeus.

Red and white roses, everblooming gardenia, violet leaf, Oman frankincense, styrax, honey myrtle, mallow flower. -http://blackphoenixalchemylab.com/shop/lilith-2014-princesses-ghosts-superheroes/hierophant-empress/

Oil Color: Clear on my skin.

Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a standard brown apothecary bottle.  The label extends partway across the bottle. The artwork is a photograph of Lilith dressed as an empress, cradled in the bespectacled arms of the hierophant, Tom. The name of the scent is in bold white block letters in a wave-like lull and lift.  The date is in lavender below it, while the name of the company is in shadowed white block letters near the bottom of the bottle.

  • ITB: On first sniff, it does smell like rich cocoa butter, fresh hand-made marshmallows, and gardenia.  It’s sweetly foody without being too cloying thanks to the white floral tones.
  • Wet:  The gardenia is a touch stronger, but it is the rose that starts to sing on my skin, set against the mallow, honey myrtle, and styrax.  I feel like the scent becomes a bit more sophisticated on the skin thanks to the other notes, but it also develops a nutty warmth juxtaposed against the cooler florals.  There’s a part of me that wishes the mallow were stronger, but I feel like that would make it a little too young for me.
  • Dry:  It smells like sugared vanilla, sweet frankincense, fresh gardenia, and budding rose with a hint of warmth from the mallow.  It’s absolutely lovely – feminine, foody, and warm.

Other Impressions: The first time I hand any interaction with this scent, I had just grabbed something out of my untested imps and put it on.  I didn’t know what it was.  However, when we got to the club, my husband demanded to know what I was wearing.  He thought it smelled like marshmallows and cocoa butter, then demanded I get a bottle of it.  He still loves it each time I wear it.
