Scent Name: Violet Gesticulations
Manufacturer: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – Halloweenies 2017: The Tell-Tale Heart
Scent Description and Notes: “No doubt I now grew very pale; — but I talked more fluently, and with a heightened voice. Yet the sound increased — and what could I do? It was a low, dull, quick sound — much such a sound as a watch makes when enveloped in cotton. I gasped for breath –and yet the officers heard it not. I talked more quickly — more vehemently; but the noise steadily increased. I arose and argued about trifles, in a high key and with violent gesticulations; but the noise steadily increased. Why would they not be gone?
An erratic pomegranate mint, high-pitched and flailing with eucalyptus, above a throbbing core of black musk.”-https://blackphoenixalchemylab.com/shop/limited-edition/weenies-2017/violent-gesticulations/
Oil Color: The color of apricot jam.
Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a standard vial / imp size (1/32 oz). This is a decant which features the scent information on back and the image that would be on the bottle on front. The label art is as featured:
- ITI: My initial impression was that I liked it – bright pomegranate with eucalyptus mint. However, as I try to tease out the notes after my initial sniff, it starts smelling more and more like more minty Scrubbing Bubbles.
- Wet: Eucalyptus first and something that comes off almost like a galangal note are the most dominant once applied. The mint, musk, and very faint pomegranate note make the scent waiver back and forth between being too much like bathroom clear and being a pleasantly green, almost citrusy perfume that would be lovely in early spring.
- Dry: Settled, the perfume is much softer, the black musk having tamped down the eucalyptus enough so that it’s on par with the subtle mint. I don’t get any pomegranate, though. I like it better now that it’s dried, but I don’t love it.
Other Impressions: “In the imp, I can see why they call it that. It kind of attacks the back of the roof of the nose. There’s like a lot of orange on my fingers now, like orange and violets. But it smooths down on your skin. It’s not violent at all. It smells like a powder makeup aisle at Ulta with all the samples out. It’s nice.” -Tony
