Scent Name: La Death Darkness Black Black Hats

Manufacturer: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab –

Scent Description and Notes: “The darkest and deathiest of black black hats: inky grey cashmere, tobacco-stained leather, and a feathery plume of bay leaf, opoponax, and sandalwood. -https://blackphoenixalchemylab.com/shop/spring-collection/the-singularity/la-death-darkness-black-black-hats-perfume-oil

Oil Color: A thin, pale, almost imperceptibly yellow color.

Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a standard 1/32 ml imp that has been decanted for me by Absinthetics. Her label features the scent notes on the back along with her decanting information and the scent name. The label art is as follows on the front:

  • ITI: At first, it reminds me of licking a manila envelope (the scent of the moistened sealing material), but then the bay, tobacco, and inked cashmere tumble forth in a strange, stilted cadence, stumbling over one another atop a supple leather platform so that it’s hard to pin down the dominant notes. It’s certainly unusual.
  • Wet: It reminds me of New Orleans – thick, green impressions and wrought iron spires set before feathery wisps of funerary objects, perfumed with incense, peaking through rolling fog on a cool evening.
  • Dry: Sandalwood and opoponax swirl on thick downy blankets atop a faintly tobacco-tinged cashmere.  Bay hovers far in the background, adding a beautiful depth to this scent. The leather has vanished, but I’m so in love with this scent as it is that I don’t mind one bit.  It’s a  somberly beautiful and meditative scent. Sign me up for a bottle!
