Scent Name: All Souls 2013

Manufacturer: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – Halloween 2013

Scent Description and Notes: ALL SOULS
A day of remembrance and intercession. Without the prayers and sacrifices of their families and loved ones, the faithful departed may not be cleansed of their venal sins, and thereby cannot attain beatific vision. On November 2nd, prayers are sung and offerings are made to aid lost souls in transcending purgatory. An incense blend that invokes the higher qualities of mercy and compassion, mingled with the soft, sugared currant scent of offertory soul cakes.

Oil Color: A rum colored oil on my skin.

Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a standard 5ml BPAL brown apothecary bottle.  The label wrapped around the bottle features the name of the scent in bolded pumpkin orange letters along the bottom of the bottle, just over the name of the company, which is in a smaller white block font set in a black text field.  The name of the collection and year are situated along the top of the label in a smaller version of the same font as the company’s name. The label art features what looks like a vintage photo of Puritans around a pyre.

  • ITB: I’m getting honeyed sweetness, but it’s the bad honey note for me.  Incense dances around the borders.  I really hope that the honey plays nice.
  • Wet: That honey is ghastly on me.  Thankfully, it shifts to more of a nutmeg and incense-spice dominant scent with honey playing rhythm.  It still drives the scent some, but it’s better as it dries.
  • Dry: This fades somewhat quickly as 5 hours later, I’m only getting a very subtle, soft incense note with a hint of warm sweetness underneath.

Other Impressions:  Ew face: “Like violet butter. It’s not awesome.” -Tony
