Manufacturer:  Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab –  Lupercalia 2016: Shunga – Novel Ideas for Secret Amusements

Scent Description and Notes:Whipped vanilla cream and white sandalwood with a touch of lotus root.” -BPAL.org

Oil Color: The color of melting soy wax.

Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a standard 1/32 ml imp that has been decanted for me by Absinthetics. Her label features the scent notes on the back along with her decanting information and the scent name. The label art is a shunga woodblock print of the vulva in great detail.

  • ITI:  Thickly whipped almost clotted vanilla cream infused with soft sandalwood makes for a lovely combination, which is saying a great deal coming from someone who doesn’t normally like foody scents.  I’m actually happy the lotus isn’t coming through right now, as that tends to go to bubblegum on my skin.
  • Wet: That’s much nice on this skin!  I’m definitely digging the sandalwood-vanilla whipped cream.  I’m getting images of lightly crystallized sugar, light and fluffy like cotton candy, but with more refined flavorings.  The vanilla here is warm and pleasantly waxy, like a sophisticated candle. The lotus I think is giving me that cotton candy tone, but it is so well balanced with all the other notes.
  • Dry:  The scent dries down to a vanilla candle wax with a touch of whipped cream sweetness after a good three hours.  It’s nice, but not my cup of tea.

Other Impressions: “It smells like the beach.  I’m getting some salt, but definitely more of the suntan lotion beach scent.” -Tony
