Scent Name: Under the Mosquito Netting

Manufacturer:  Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab –  Lupercalia 2016: Shunga – Novel Ideas for Secret Amusements

Scent Description and Notes:Lemon peel and white incense.” -BPAL.org

Oil Color: A brilliant strawberry candied sugar water colored oil.

Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a standard 1/32 ml imp that has been decanted for me by Absinthetics. Her label features the scent notes on the back along with her decanting information and the scent name. The label art is a woodblock print of a partially clad couple doing something under mosquito netting, but the print on the decant isn’t clear and I can’t find the reference image.

  • ITI: Gorgeously austere incense and light lemon peel. The incense reminds me of palo santo or white sandalwood – not really exotic but religiously woody.
  • Wet: This is very much a woodsy incense.  I’m fairly certain it’s palo santo and something else…not a fragrant warm wood like mahogany, though.  There’s a spritz of lemon or citronella-akin very close to the bottom of the scent, but it isn’t enough to shift this to something I’d consider a citrus scent.
  • Dry: Yes, this still reminds me of palo santo and temple incense, although there’s a vague suggestion of cedar behind the sliver of faded citrus.

Other Impressions: None.
