Manufacturer: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – Lupercalia 2016: Shunga – Novel Ideas for Secret Amusements
Scent Description and Notes: “Incense-blackened oudh and bourbon vanilla with tobacco absolute and 9-year aged patchouli.” -BPAL.org
Oil Color: An apricot-rose Turkish delight in color.
Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a standard 1/32 ml imp that has been decanted for me by Absinthetics. Her label features the scent notes on the back along with her decanting information and the scent name. The label art is a woodblock print, the theme of which I can’t make out on the printed label.
- ITI: Oh, that is black oudh for sure, sugared over with incense and bourbon vanilla, but rank, feces-smelling black oudh all the same. Yikes, I’m not looking forward to having this on my skin.
- Wet: Goodness, this smells like fresh cat feces next to a patchouli-dusted litter tray. I’m getting incense 20 seconds in, like someone lighting an incense stick to cover the malodorous aroma of hot dookie. At least the bourbon vanilla is kicking in after a minutes, which masks the oudh note even more, but it still smells a little off to me. Maybe it will be better after it fully dries.
- Dry: After an hour, it smells like nag champa and patchouli incense over vaguely woody compost. Nope.
Other Impressions: “It smells like you lit 5 sticks of gas station incense at a sewage treatment facility.” -Tony
