Scent Name: Shattered Silence
Manufacturer: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – Yule 2018
Scent Description and Notes: “Unearthly howls reverberate in the shadows of a darkened wood: black cedar, yew berries, juniper and frost-crusted moss, crushed beneath a shaggy spectral black musk.” -https://blackphoenixalchemylab.com/shop/winter-collection/yule-2018/shattered-silence/
Oil Color: A faint resin color on my wrist.
Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a standard brown apothecary bottle. The label wrapped around the bottle features the name of the company in thinner ombre light pink along the bottom, just above which is the name of the perfume in larger, bolded white font. The name of the collection is centered along the top of the label, in the smaller pinkish font as we. The label art is as featured below:
- ITB: It reminds me of a camp fire amongst the woods under a full moon. Juniper and cedar ring out crisp and clear through what almost smells like a vetiver-musk. It’s less shaggy and brown than I expected and more charred and dangerous.
- Wet: Wow, the juniper soars when applied to the skin, sharp and refreshing next to the yew berries. The cedar warms and adds that camphor-like tone while the musk paces in the difference.
- Dry: After 6 hours, the scent reduces down to a brown musky tone atop very faint wood. I wish the scent maintained more of its complexity, though. The smoke-like tone at the start really is noticeably missed.
Other Impressions: “I’d like this in my diffuser.” -Kelly
