Manufacturer: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – The Fool’s Journey: The Magician – Faces of the Magician
Scent Description and Notes: “The twilight in between the stage performer and the Magus; the sleight of hand trick transforms into true sorcerous skill: black silken musk, dark clove, guiac wood, black pepper, frankincense, and cardamom.” -Image from https://blackphoenixalchemylab.com/shop/limited-edition/the-fools-journey/the-legerdemain/
Oil Color: The color of cold butter.
Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a standard 1/32 ml imp that has been decanted for me by Mystery 213. Her label features the scent notes and her decanter information on the back. The front has the name of the scent and company name along with the label art, which is as follows:
- ITI: Ooh, that’s…interesting. I certainly get pepper and something that strikes me as buggy (like iris to my nose) initially. On second sniff, I get the musky silk notes, which is definitely more aggressive with the pepper, clove, and cardamom.
- Wet: Thankfully, the pepper isn’t as strong on my skin. The guiac wood emerges from underneath the strong spice notes while the silk and frankincense quickly follow. It is disquieting and unnerving.
- Dry: While I don’t like it wet, it’s much more agreeable after it has had several hours to settle. The scent mellows down into a lovely frankincense over a soft, woodsy musk with the memory of spices long since used.
Other Impressions: This scent does seem to not play well with my sinuses.
