Scent Name: Lurid Bonbon
Manufacturer: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – Lupercalia 2015: Box of Bonbons 2015
Scent Description and Notes: “Dark chocolate dotted by cacao nibs, laced with black currant, Bulgarian lavender, white musk, and thick resins.” -bpal.org
Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab’s Lurid: Shocking, horrific, fierce, savage, sensationalized, luminous and hazy: black currant, Bulgarian lavender and white musk with a dollop of thick resin and a voltaic charge of ozone notes.
Oil Color: The color of aged whisky.
Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a standard 1/32 ml imp that has been decanted for me by moons_storm. Her label features the scent notes on the back. The company acronym along with the scent’s name and the decanting information is on the front. The image on the label consists of who cartoon hearts, but the original label art is as follows:
- ITI: At first, I thought I smelled something slightly buggy, like the impression of iris that I get. That was quickly replaced by chocolate cacao nibs, a subtle currant, and ozone. Interesting.
- Wet: It’s very similar to what I smelled fresh from the vial, but the lavender floats in at the very tail of the inhale and then vanishes. The currant now rivals the chocolate notes, skewing the scent into the realm of fruity.
- Dry: This dissipates much faster than some of the other scents in the bonbon series. After 4 hours, I’m left with a faint musky currant.
Other Impressions: None.
