Scent Name: The Nun and the Courtly Lady
Manufacturer: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – Lupercalia 2014: Shunga – Novel Ideas for Secret Amusements
Scent Description and Notes: “White sandalwood, Italian bergamot, Siamese benzoin, tobacco flower, and caramelized honey.” -BPAL.org
Oil Color: The color of faded maple wood.
Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a standard 1/32 ml imp that has been decanted for me by Ralenth. Her label features the scent notes on the back along with her decanting information, while the scent name and collection information frames the label art. The label art is a woodblock print of two nude nudes, one pleasing the taller nun with the white headdressing with some kind of black devices, while that nun is helping the smaller nun with a black headdress pleasure herself with her own heel.
- ITI: This is a much cleaner scent than I had anticipated. I was expecting heady and resinous but what emerges in a beautiful combination of bergamot and austere benzoin threaded with a hint of sandalwood. I think it’s the tobacco flower, but there’s a scent of a light, white floral breeze at the very back of the scent that is rather compelling.
- Wet: Yes, that must be the tobacco flower that I’m smelling, so beautifully fragrant and sweetly floral, soaked in bergamot and infused with benzoin and sandalwood. The scent so far is a very pleasing clean resin that skews almost tea-like in its delicacy. Thankfully, the honey behaves itself in this iteration.
- Dry: 5 hours after application, a great deal of the scent has faded. I can pick out a clean white floral laced with faded bergamot and benzoin incense. It’s really a lovely scent. I might have to track down more than just the imp.
Other Impressions: None.
