Scent Name: The Parliament of Monsters
Manufacturer: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – Carnaval Diabolique, Act III: Fiat Nox
Scent Description and Notes: “You pass through the golden mouth, and find yourself inside a narrow, cramped corridor. Large wooden paintings of skeletal hands crook their bony fingers, leading you forwards. At the first turn, you hear a bizarre jumble of sounds: the high-pitched sound of gears grinding, metal on metal, the sound of sultry, low-pitched laughter, a clattering, wings flapping, soft hissing. Suddenly, a sharp howl pierces the darkness. As you make your way around the corner you are momentarily blinded as floodlights flicker to life, and thirteen gold-gilded stages are illuminated, bathed from beneath in sinister, caramel-colored light.
Dust, incense, wet tobacco, singed straw, and a curl of opium smoke.” -https://blackphoenixalchemylab.com/shop/carnaval-diabolique/carnaval-diabolique-2015/the-parliament-of-monsters/
Oil Color: A cheery marmalade-colored oil.
Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a standard 1/32 ml imp that has been decanted from an original bottle by ralenth, whose decanting information appears down the side of the label. The back features the scent notes while the front of the label contains the collection information, the image art, the scent name, and the date decanted (09/2015) The original label art is as follows below.
- ITI: Thick incense ash akin to Nag Champa swirls together with soft tobaccos and opium tendrils, set against a touch of vetiver-laced hay. This reminds me of an evening drawing to a close, dusky, redolent, hazy and sleepy.
- Wet: Fragrant incense ash is swirled with streaks of dark vetiver and opium smoke, all of which is slightly sweetened by the wet tobacco, the tones of which increase as the scent begins to settle. This scent is dark, dry, perfumed smoke.
- Dry: Tobacco sweet smoke haze perfumed with faded incense remain on my skin after 5 hours. Mush of that dark vetiver has vanished while that sense of duskiness lingers.
Other Impressions: “It’s kind of hard to smell. It’s really mild. I have to get up on your arm like a bloodhound, but I get the slightest hint of Botan Rice Candy.” -Tony
