Scent Name: Qandisa
Manufacturer: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – Excolo
Scent Description and Notes: “The Moroccan Goddess of Carnal Desire. Dwelling in fresh-water springs and rivers, she is doom: her embrace drives men mad with mindless lust. Sacrifices are made to the Lady of Lust on the Summer Solstice in the hopes of placating her passions and driving her red-tinged gaze away. Black musk, blackened saffron, lemon peel, and vetiver draped over thick honey.“ -https://blackphoenixalchemylab.com/shop/general-catalog-perfume-oils/excolo/qandisa/
Oil Color: The color of cinnamon stick extract.
Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a standard vial / imp size (1/32 oz). The label wrapped around the bottle features an Art-Deco inspired phoenix with name of the company next to the phoenix. On the other side, the title of the scent is written in large, clear black font outlined with red on the front.
- ITI: Heady honey (questionable version on my skin ) threaded with refreshing lemon peel, saffron, and an earthy vetiver.
- Wet: The honey toes the line for me, but I think the saffron and the absolutely stunningly smoked yet earthy vetiver pulls it back. With the twinkle of lemon peel at the very back, there’s a welcomed glimmer of brightness to the scent.
- Dry: Lots of throw with this one! After 2.5 hours of dry time, the scent of darkened honey with a mellow saffron heart makes this an appealing scent. I do wish the lemon lasted longer as I appreciate the brightness, but overall, this isn’t bad, even for someone whose skin chemistry doesn’t normally do well with the Lab’s honey notes.
Other Impressions: [Wet] “At first I was smelling fake grape flavor but then it turned all grassy and herb-y.” -Tony
BPAL’s Tournament of Underdogs: When up against Squirting Cucumber, I’d have to give this round to Qandisa. Even though I love cucumber notes with a deep, burning passion, the aquatic tones in SC just don’t harmonize on my skin while the honey (despite being almost doomy) is well blended with the deep musks and bright citrus. #tournamentofunderdogs #underdogs
