Scent Name: L’Heure Verte
Manufacturer: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – Carnaval Diabolique, Act IV: The Interlude
Scent Description and Notes: “Recoiling, you back away from the dicing. A large tent striped in many shades of green grabs your attention, and you walk towards it. You peer inside the open tent flap and see a room crowded with people in various stages of profound intoxication. Tables are littered with glasses filled with thick, cloudy emerald liquid, and candlelight glints on discarded silver spoons. The scent of spilled absinthe, opium smoke, lilac blossoms, and rose water permeates the stifling air of the tent. As you close the tent flap and turn to leave, you see a scantily clad server bend close to a rugged laborer that is sitting slumped in a sagging chair. A low velvety voice voice asks, “Another drink for you, Monsieur Lanfray?”
Spilled absinthe, scorched sugar cubes, opium smoke, lilac blossoms, and rose water.” – https://blackphoenixalchemylab.com/shop/carnaval-diabolique/carnaval-diabolique-2015/lheure-verte/
Oil Color: Colorless on my skin.
Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a 5ml standard brown apothecary bottle. The label extends just under halfway around the bottom. The label features the name of the company along the top and the name of the label in black block font inside a tanned leather-colored text field. This is mirrored by the phrase “limited edition perfume oil blend” along the bottom in the same font and text field with “Carnaval Diabolique” in a slightly larger version just above that. The name of the scent is above this in a Westernized Vegas-like font, displaying green ombre, shadowed in black. The image art is as follows:
- ITB: This reads as rosed berries and lilac swirled with opium and medicinal herbal liqueur. The sweetness and clarity of some of the lab’s other absinthe notes are lacking at this point, but I’m hoping that comes out once applied to the skin.
- Wet: Heavy roses laden with thick opium smoke and blackened sugar. As it sits, the lilac begins to rival the rose while absinthe slowly snakes its way forward. The sugar note and absinthe are distinct in this blend too, separated by heady florals and opium.
- Dry: Scorched sugar cubes and herbal absinthe infused with subtle ghostly undertones of rose and lilac still linger on my wrist even after a full 8 hours. I love the longevity of this scent.
