Scent Name: The Storm
Manufacturer: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – Lilith 2018
Scent Description and Notes: “On a ship at sea: a tempestuous noise.
An electric blackberry violet tossed with seaspray.“ -BPAL.org
Oil Color: Colorless.
Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a standard 1/32 ml imp that has been decanted for me by Absinthetics. Her label features the scent notes on the back along with her decanting information and the scent name. The label art on the imp is the same that appears on the bottle.
- ITI: Hmm, I’m definitely getting sea spray and the impression of something dark and story tinged with a very subdued blackberry and faded violets swirling in the tempest. Salt-crusted soapy blackberry with purple floral strewn about. It reminds me of those berried bushes one finds just off the shores. I was fearing this as aquatics tend not to agree with me, but the salt isn’t too bad. The soapy berry is the note that I hope moves into a more natural direction once applied to skin.
- Wet: Well, then. On my skin, the berry changes from soapy to blackberry slushy. There is a sophisticated floral element and colors the berry note some. Oceanic salt spray and charged blackberry stay close to my skin upon application. There is a very minimal violet floral tone that adds a little innocence to the scent, but it still reads very much like a storm close to the sea.
- Dry: After three hours, my skin has seemingly eaten the complexities of most of the other notes. What I’m left with is a slightly blue, more perfumed sea salt. I wish the other notes had more staying power on my skin, but alas. After 8 hours, much of the scent has faded except for a musky sea spray with a hint of dark sweetness.
Other Impressions: None.
