Scent Name: A Peculiar Spirit
Manufacturer: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – Lupercalia 2015: Shunga – Novel Ideas for Secret Amusements
Scent Description and Notes: “A PECULIAR SPIRIT
Tobacco absolute with neroli, oudh, benzoin, and black tea leaf.” -BPAL.org
Oil Color: A tawny brandy colored oil.
Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a standard 1/32 ml imp that has been decanted for me by Absinthetics. Her label features the scent notes on the back along with her decanting information and the scent name. The label art is a woodblock print of a hairy yokai in a blue kimono pointing to its head, which is a phallus.
- ITI: Golden warm tobacco is sweetened with sweet benzoin, florid black tea, and a hint of neroli at the very edge of the scent. There’s a vanilla tone to this scent as well, but I’m not sure which note would be contributing to that.
- Wet: More tobacco absolute paired with something that reads as husky, next to black tea leaf and benzoin. The neroli is rather light, but I do wish it were a bit stronger. About 10 seconds in, I’m getting that vanilla or vanilla candle impression for some reason.
- Dry: After 4 hours, the scent dries down to a sweetly dry and husky benzoin black tea leaf concoction warmed with a faded but sweet tobacco. It almost reminds me of summer-warmed straw.
Other Impressions: None.
