Scent Name: Tis Thy Voice from The Kingdom of Souls
Manufacturer: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – Event Exclusive: Bats Day 2014
Scent Description and Notes: “A song of love echoing out through the aethers from the shadowy lands of death: pale rose and sweet myrrh drifting through a veil of olibanum, elemi, pallid frankincense, black tea leaf, and ho wood.“ -scentbase.com
Oil Color: I cannot see through the brown glass of the bottle.
Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a 5ml standard brown apothecary bottle. The label extends just under halfway around the bottom. The label is a cement grey color with what looks like a winged death holding back the arms of a nude woman. Across the bottom of the image is the scent name in a Gothic white font. Below that is the company name in a smaller block grey font.
- ITB: Interesting. It reminds me of something edible, but I can’t place it. I can pick up the black tea leaf and the ho wood, but the myrrh and rose are obscured by the olibanum, but the scent for some reason reads like it has an olive note in it.
- Wet: Ah, it’s the elemi paired with the ho wood and black tea that is reading as “olive” to me. I remember elemi having a really interesting, musky quality, similar to ambergris, but the ho wood and tea gives the scent and the note this really interesting edible floral tone that is softened by the pale rose and light olibanum. This is a nice scent that I could see working well on a man in a fancy setting as well.
- Dry: The scent dries down to a really lovely soft, ephemeral floral suffused with gently wafting frankincense, myrrh, and tea leaf just over faint ho wood. This settles down just brilliantly.
Other Impressions: “It smells good, but I like the one from yesterday better.” -Maite
