Scent Name: Snow Moon 2005
Manufacturer: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – A Little Lunacy 2005
Scent Description and Notes: “In December, the skeletal, ice-rimmed fingers of winter take hold, and the nights are long, chill and dark. The first flurries of snow touch the land, and the earth itself becomes quiet. A scent of purity and silence, soft with falling snow, as dark as Midwinter: an icy flurry over the winter blooms of narcissus, pansy crocus, dahlia, tulip, chrysanthemum and white rose, with a hint of fir and birch.“ -BPAL.org
Oil Color: Colorless on my skin.
Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a 5ml standard blue apothecary bottle. The label extends just under halfway around the bottom. The label features the name of the company in small white font (not block) against a dark teal text field, which mirrors the collection name, sigil, and release date at the top of the label. The name of the scent is below than in a fancy script, just above a white and dark blue ombre image of snowflakes.
- ITB: Hmm – green, astringent fir needles laden with crystallized icicles along with something that reminds me of juniper berries and a petal or two from a white rose. The floral aspect is very light under the gorgeously strong fir and ice notes.
- Wet: I’m getting a touch more birch and some lovely softness from the pansy corcus once applied, but the fir and ice notes simply sparkle in their crystalline dominance
- Dry: After two hours, I’m still getting a gorgeously frosty fir tone with a hint of sweet white flowers. Lovely!
Other Impressions: “Christmas-y. It smells like a wreath.” -Tony
