Scent Description and Notes: “THE ONNAGATA AND THE PILLOW ROLL
White musk and Himalayan cedar with bergamot, rose absolute, white patchouli, pink peppercorn, and hay absolute.” -BPAL.org
Oil Color: Colorless.
Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a standard 1/32 ml imp that has been decanted for me by Absinthetics. Her label features the scent notes on the back along with her decanting information and the scent name. The label art is a woodblock print of a woman leaning back on a pillow roll on top of a white and dark blue striped kimono. I can’t tell what she is doing as the label has faded and I can’t seem to find the woodblock print reference elsewhere.
- ITI: Baby oil? I’m so confused. The scent distinctly makes me think of oil, but an oil that is comforting and soothing. If I really focus, I can tease out the shadow of rose absolute and a breath of patchouli against a prominent hay absolute note, which certainly is the driver in this scent.
- Wet: Okay, not it reminds me of hay and a great white wine aged in cedar barrels, garnished with a rose petal. After 10 seconds, there’s a touch of peppercorn and musk, but these don’t diffuse the impression of hay wine. Odd, but unique.
- Dry: This reminds me of a baby oil or dusting powder infused with patchouli, lightly sunned cedar, soft hay, gentle rose musk, and a dash of peppercorn. It’s soft, powdery, and clean. Honestly, I think I like this one. It’s too bad I only had a tester.
Other Impressions: “It’s like I just got dropped kicked by a rose that was made gooey with fresh aloe vera juice. It’s not bad. It’s unusual.” -Tony
