Manufacturer: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – Halloween 2016: The Spirit of Halloween
Scent Description and Notes: “After: George Du Maurier
A chaotic, clanging scent – shadowy, sweet, and discordant: black licorice and teakwood.” -BPAL.org
Oil Color: A gorgeous cherry brandy colored oil.
Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a standard 1/32 ml imp that has been decanted for me by Mystery213. Her label features her decanting information and the scent name on the front and the company name on the back. There is no label art on this decant.
- ITI: I get licorice root at first, but then the deliciously sweet tones of black licorice, thick and chewy, trump the earthy undertones of the root. The teakwood shifts between bottom and top note, adding a wooden astringency to the scent.
- Wet: On my skin, the teakwood is a bit stronger while the black licorice is earthy and rooted with a bit of that lovely faint astringency that both seem to have.
- Dry: I’m surprised it has faded as quickly as it has. After 5 hours, the scent has mellowed into a slightly sweet earthy musk.
Other Impressions: “It smells like an entire lush store.” -Tony
“Oh, what essential oil are you wearing? It’s earthy and musky; I like it.” -Aestheticism.
