Scent Name: Flower Moon
Manufacturer: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – A Little Lunacy: May 2019
Scent Description and Notes: “The apex of the year’s fertility, the reawakening of the sexuality of the Earth and her inhabitants. This full moon celebrates both the fecundity of the creatures and flora of this world and the vibrancy, rejuvenation and life-affirming energy of Spring. Flower Moon embodies the unrestrained bliss, energy and color of the season: wisteria, frangipani, tuberose, ylang ylang, double sugar narcissus, white sage, and a mix of California wildflowers – all gleaming gold with a thick sheen of honey.
It is our distinct honor to continue our collaboration with the Caldecott-winning Dan Santat: Author/Illustrator on 2019’s Lunacy series, with FLOWER MOON.
If you love children’s literature, you must pick up “Beekle,” “After the Fall,” “Drawn Together,” “Dude!,” “Sidekicks,” “Crankenstein Valentine,” or any other of Dan’s amazing books. His stories aren’t just for kids: they are moving, touching, heart-exploding stories for anyone at any age.” -https://blackphoenixalchemylab.com/shop/in-memoriam/a-little-lunacy/flower-moon-2019-perfume-oil/
Oil Color: The color of dilute wildflower honey.
Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a standard 1/32 ml imp that has been decanted for me by Yowahoshihime. Her label features the scent notes on the back along with her decanting information. The front features the label art and scent name, which appears as below:
- ITI: Oh wow, that is light, airy, and beautifully floral. The sugar gives the scent of candied wildflowers arranged next to heady frangipani, honeyed tuberose, and a breath of wisteria.
- Wet: Frangipani emerges at the forefront, while hints of other flowers fade in and out of detection – ylang ylang, narcissus, tuberose, and wildflowers with a hint of honey below. It’s less sugared at this point as the scent seems to tilt toward heady white florals.
- Dry: After a solid 8 hours, the scent still maintains its sugared white floral beauty – a combination of wildflowers, a hint of almost coconut sweet but faded frangipani, and a sign of tuberose. As far as a floral scent goes, it’s lovely. I wish I had gotten more than just an imp.
Other Impressions: “It’s like a warm, lush, old library.” -Tony
