Scent Name: Autumn – Overlooking my Knitting
Manufacturer: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – Halloween 2014
Scent Description and Notes: “Autumn — overlooked my Knitting
Dyes — said He — have I
Could disparage a Flamingo
Show Me them — said I
Cochineal — I chose — for deeming
It resemble Thee
And the little Border — Dusker
For resembling Me
For my knitter posse! A warm scent, as delicate as lace and as soft as cashmere, and as cozy as wool, punctuated with red currant for the blazing red of cochineal and surrounded a border of soft grey ambergris and a swirl of autumn leaves.” -BPAL.org
Oil Color: Colorless.
Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a standard 1/32 ml imp that has been decanted for me by Ralenth. Her label features her decanting information, collection name, date, and the scent name on the front. The back of her label features the scent notes. There is no label art on this decant. The label art she includes on the front features a pair of hands donning grey knitted fingerless gloves cupping a heart-shaped leaf. I’m not sure if it’s the label art that was on the bottles or not, though.
- ITI: Bitter, crispy autumnal leaves slightly sweetened with the faint impression of wool and ambergris. The leaf note is pretty intense, though, and I haven’t been a fan of it so far.
- Wet: I get a sliver of red currant under the autumn leaf note and the wool-threaded ambergris. It does remind me of crocheting or knitting surrounded by a pile of dead leaves, but this isn’t a scent I’d wear intentionally.
- Dry: I like this so much better now that it has had a chance to settle over the last three hours. Long gone is the bitter, almost acrid scent of dead leaves. Instead, I’m left when a soft blend of grey ambergris, wool, cashmere, lace, and a very faint undertone of red currant far in the distance. It now reads like a late fall evening, wrapped in a hand-knitted blanket, sipping tea while listening to a thundershower.
Other Impressions: None.
