Scent Name: Audumia
Manufacturer: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – The Song of Creation
Scent Description and Notes: “Then said Gangleri: Where dwelt Ymir, or wherein did he find sustenance? Hárr answered: Straightway after the rime dripped, there sprang from it the cow called Audumla; four streams of milk ran from her udders, and she nourished Ymir. Then asked Gangleri: Wherewithal was the cow nourished? And Hárr made answer:
She licked the ice-blocks, which were salty; and the first day that she licked the blocks, there came forth from the blocks in the evening a mans hair; the second day, a mans head; the third day the whole man was there.
The primordial mother, the first nourisher: four streams of milk, white honey, frankincense, motherwort, and angelica root.“ – https://scentbase.com/scents/black-phoenix-alchemy-lab-bpal/audumla/20171101040709826
Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a standard vial / imp size (1/32 oz). This is a decant, but the label only features the names of the scent on one side and the company acronym in black bold font. No decanting information is present. I could not find any label artwork for the original bottle:
Scent:
- ITI: Honey and cream, but there is something soft and pleasing here, which might be the angelica. I’m neither getting much rootiness (earthy or peppery) from the angelica nor the supposed bitter tone from motherwort other than a brief airiness that I would associate with a window opening to a garden. I’m worried about what the honey will do on my skin given my history with the note, but it certainly smells paler and more powdery than recently tested honey notes.
- Wet: Heavy honey and milk with a pleasantly powdery whiff of frankincense and a brief nod to angelica at the very front (but that quickly steps behind the stronger honey and cream notes.
- Dry: After 11 hours, the scent still has about an 1″ of throw, showcasing a pleasing powdered honey milk with a gentle exhalation of distant frankincense and a subtle floral nod. It is soft and actually well behaved (especially for honey).
Other Impressions: [Wet] “It smells like powdery, lit candle and everything but the sourness of the lemongrass – like the halo flavors.” -Tony
