Manufacturer: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – Carnaval Diabolique, Act IV: The Interlude
Scent Description and Notes: “Blood-red light cascades through languorous folds of sheer cloth. Hell-bright embers breathe into the gloom as billowing ribbons of thick, dark incense wrap their tendrils of smoke around your body like the curious hands of a lover.
Heady red musk, myrrh and honey, drops of cinnamon and crushed cardamom pod, the taste of opium-laced black wine, sweet oudh, and threads of saffron.” –https://blackphoenixalchemylab.com/shop/carnaval-diabolique/carnaval-diabolique-2015/behind-the-veils/
Oil Color: A cherried walnut wood color.
Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a 1/32 imp decant from Ajevie. The label features the year and the company name across the font in large burgundy and purple font. Scent:
- ITI: Sweet red wine over a deep oudic base that speaks of carnal intentions alongside the thrumming red musk and thin strands of spiced honey. I’m not sure how this will do on the skin due to the wine and honey notes, but I am intrigued.
- Wet: Ooh, that’s interesting. On the skin, it’s a heady whirl of honeyed myrrh alongside cassis or heavy Concord grape-forward wine and thick threads of opium. Subtle tones of cinnamon and mentholated cardamom slink through the curtains of scent alongside an shadowed patchouli-like oudh.
- Dry: After 9 hours, I’m picking up red musk-toned honey with a pinch of cinnamon. There’s a faint exhalation of wine at the very end, an intimate whisper on a lover’s breath.
Other Impressions: “You know that lacquered-like menthol-cassis candies? Läkerol? Yeah, that, plus a little bit of powdered cassis and the smell of unscented hand lotion at the very end.” -Tony
