Scent Name: Velvet Tiki
Manufacturer: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – The Salon April Fool’s Exhibit (4/1/09-6/1/09): Velvet Paintings
Scent Description and Notes: “VELVET TIKI
Gold-washed frangipani, vanilla flower, vanilla bean, coconut, hibiscus, papaya, pineapple, bouganvilla, passion fruit, and three orchids.“ -BPAL.org
Bouganvillea: A waxy flowering vine or bush native to South America that has a scent similar to honeysuckle.
Oil Color: Colorless on my skin.
Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a 5ml standard brown apothecary bottle. The label extends just under halfway around the bottom. The name of the scent is aligned to the left along the bottom of the label in bolded white block font, framing a crying or laughing toothless wooden tiki-head. The name of the company and the date are in a thin white block font along the top of the label, separated by the company’s sigil.
Scent:
- ITB: This is softer and more floral than I had anticipated – frangipani and coconut, fringed with vanilla over papaya, a zing of pineapple, and passionflower.
- Wet: It’s much the same on my skin as it is in the bottle, although there’s a slight floral bitterness from the hibiscus I think, but it is mediated by the pineapple and papal mixed with soft coconut.
- Dry: After two hours, pineapple and papaya at the top of the scent are met with creamy vanilla flower, coconut, frangipani and orchid, making for a pleasantly refined tropical scent with the delightfully sweet and soft roundness of vanilla.
Other Impressions: [Wet] “It smells like fruit punch at the beach.”-Tony
