Scent Name: The Trappings of the Tea House
Manufacturer: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – Lupercalia 2016: Shunga – Novel Ideas for Secret Amusements
Scent Description and Notes: “White sandalwood, ti leaf, osmanthus, pink pepper, and white vanilla bark.” -BPAL.org
Oil Color: A faded glassy yellow colored oil.
Bottle Design and Artwork: This is a standard 1/32 ml imp that has been decanted for me by Absinthetics. Her label features the scent notes on the back along with her decanting information and the scent name. The label art is a woodblock print of a fully nude man and woman copulating, set against some sort of red pillow. I can’t really tell where the tea house comes in.
Scent:
- ITI: Oh, that smells good so far! It reminds me of a warm spiced chai with a dash of vanilla milk in it (A good chai London Fog). I know the chai tone is some the pink pepper and ti leaf. There’s a hint of pleasing woody sweetness to the scent as well.
- Wet: Gosh, that’s gorgeous! It really does smell like the most amazing vanilla sweetened chai, heavily spiced and peppered with a bright pinkness, infused with osmanthus and a hint of wafting sandalwood incense far in the background.
- Dry: That osmanthus really blooms after a good 10 minutes, adding more of a sweet fruitiness to the chai pepper and it leaf notes. The warmth of vanilla is still there, but is now drifting down, showing up after the blooming floral and tea notes. A subtle sandalwood twines itself along the bottom notes faintly. Jeez, this is heaven.
Other Impressions: “It kinda smells like a bakery next to a perfume shop. It’s comforting, like a room full of pillows.” -Tony
